Horag Racing is no new name in sports car racing. Indeed, their LMP-project is a „déja-vu“:
The swiss team, based in Sulgen, eastern Switzerland just a few minutes from the lake of Constance,
ran a Ferrari 333SP from 1995 to 98 in IMSA and the International Sports Racing Series in which
they were the 1998 vice champions.
The successful relationship of Horag and Lista started almost 40 years ago: when Markus Hotz started building
his own formula vee cars in the sixties, Fredy Lienhard from the neighbourhood village of Erlen was one of his
first customers to order a HAS car. Soon thereafter, in 1968 the first Lista Racing Team was founded.
After Markus Hotz had founded his own company in 1971, the Horag formula super vee cars were driven by Harald Ertl,
Bertil Roos and others who would become famous. Jody Scheckter set a new track record at Silverstone in a Horag super vee in 1973.
Lienhard and Hotz competed with March cars in the European Formula 2 championship in the mid-70s, Markus Hotz even got the
opportunity of a Hesketh F1 test.
In the heyday of the F2 championship in the early 1980s, motorcycle and sidecar legends Johnny Ceccotto and Rolf Biland were
among the Horag F2 Teams drivers. By then, „Autosport“ mentioned Horag as europe’s best organised privateer team.
The co-operation with New Zealander Mike Thackwell was one of Hotz’s greatest pleasures.
After sucessfully running F3000 chassis-based Horag-Lola CanAm cars in the Interserie, the Horag team then switched to the
above mentioned Ferrari F333SP in 1995 for the next Horag-Lista project.
Over all these years, Horag has run (and is still running) a tyre service for the swiss championship and other series.
Hotz’ experience and knowledge is well known and appreciated in the racing community around europe.
At the young age 66 Markus Hotz still can’t leave the wheel untouched and races with his 1976 Lista Racing team March 762
in historical events.
The Horag team is a healthy mixture of „brave old warriors“ and highly skilled young engineers and mechanics with wide
experience in GT, group C, sports and touring cars, Formula Renault V6 and F1, both in endurance and sprint racing.
They all appreciate this opportunity and look forward to succesful racing in the LMES.
